Cheri Reviews The Maidens by Alex Michaelides

The Maidens by Alex Michaelides

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Whoa! What a ride!

I finished listening to the audiobook (thanks Macmillan Audio and NetGalley!) and already I’m thinking about listening again because I’ve got questions. Now that the secret has been revealed, I’m not sure how some of the book fits in. I’m a bit confused about some things. Hm…

I wasn’t sure how I’d get on with The Maidens because I quit The Silent Patient very early on. I don’t remember what exactly it was that bugged me enough to DNF it but I did. Now I’m thinking I should give it another shot.

Okay, this book is told from two POVs. The first – and main one – is Mariana who finds herself in the middle of a series of killings at her old college where her niece, Zoe, attends. The second is a man who tells a story of childhood abuse. I really don’t want to go more into this person’s tale or identity.

What I will say is that I definitely found myself engrossed in the plot and thought I knew what was going on several times. And I was wrong several times. I think I can recommend The Maidens to those of you who enjoy a twisty who-done-it.
